my first cup of coffee in the morning in my favorite mug...saving for a long-desired purchase and finally being able to buy it...hearing the sound of Patrick’s footsteps enter the house after a long day at work...feeling more confident than i've ever felt at twenty-seven...having a good cry...jumping right into conversation when my sister calls without even a hello...dancing to a good song in the car...tea parties with the littles...coloring with sidewalk chalk in the driveway...a bowl of cereal before bed...snail mail in a colored envelope that stands out among the rest...oregon ducks football games...sunsets...tomato soup and grilled cheese...cupcakes...slow-cooked oatmeal...my camera...patrick lookin' all cute in a button-down shirt...brunch with my girlfriends...samantha brown's voyages on the travel channel...afternoons in barnes & noble...ups pulling up to my driveway with a package...baby fingerprints all over my windows and mirrors--and not caring one bit...bubble baths...having best friends...greek salads...candles...my nephew...sliding into clean sheets at night...a good glass of wine and conversation...

The Icing On The Cake

And, so here I am spending the day in the kitchen trying to perfect the PERFECT buttercream frosting. I can’t lie, I’m picky and I want the best on my cupcakes but in acheving the best I’m starting to feel a bit like Goldilocks. Ones too sweet, ones too buttery, another is just too surgery, well I need to find the one that's just right! I know I’m close, I can just feel it! Today is the day, I will tie on my magical apron my put on my blinged out ballet shoes and work on perfection! The icings on the cake! I’ve got this!

and the two sisters and little man reunited..
there was chocolate milk coffee.
a pedicure.
and laughter.
and it was just like old times.

And, for the record...the name of my choice of color today?

Jamaican Out. Because it brings back memories, amazing memories!

im drooling over this and yes, it will be my kitchen, one day very soon!

oh, and I even got a workout in, it was day 5 of the shred! I have a love hate relationship with Jillian!

if you haven't read this book, check it out today. it's moving me incredibly.

my girlfriends had told me to read it a year ago (holy sister props!), and i waited for the hype to die down...or the urge to read to come back. being that i bought it on a front "best-seller" rack at target, i'd hardly say it's died down.
however...it's beautiful and moving and is shaking up all these inner parts of me...on spirituality, on pleasure, on love, on life...she is an amazing writer, and trust me...it is a beautiful read. i'm happy to pass it on when i'm done. (if you promise to read it properly...and that means in a bathtub of suds with a glass of wine and a plate of pears and cheese, please)
